Advisor
Their first question is always, “What is the best thing to do?”
We love Advisors because at home, school and in the world, they love to be the expert. They have the information that people need to make better decisions. They offer advice and that is how they feel connected to people. Advisors don’t just share what they know, they help the world know what to do next. Advisors also…
• Are the experts we turn to for advice.
• Might come across as “know it all’s”.
• Are confident in their intuition, so we go to them for problem solving.
Connector
Their first question is always, “With whom can I connect?”
We love Connectors because at home, school or anywhere, they see the world as a web of connections they might link together. They are curious, and always asking questions. They have a lot of ideas about how people and information can be combined—they love this feeling. Connectors weave people together to make a fabric of something much bigger, and we love them for it. Connectors also…
• Put two things together to make something bigger than what anyone thought possible.
• Sometimes have trouble following through, as they are on to the next connection.
• Are excellent “wouldn’t it be great if” thinkers; so we go to them to find out what is possible.
Creator
Their first question is always, “What do I understand?”
We love Creators because at home, school, and in the world, they see the pieces and parts of things, and they are driven to figure it all out. They are thoughtful, and someone that needs time alone. They are creative in how they think and consider the patterns around themselves and others—and that is important because Creators can see what might happen next. Creators also…
• Make sense of things.
• May take lots of time to analyze or can find it hard to move forward.
• Offer great theories and ideas; so we go to them for better ways to do things.
Equalizer
Their first question is always, “What is the right thing to do?”
We love Equalizers because at home, school and in the world, they are sensitive to how things are dependent on or connected to one another—and this is important because they keep these things aligned. We might use the word “responsible” to describe Equalizers. They honor the commitments they make and like to restore things to their rightful place, and we love them for it. Equalizers also…
• Are level-headed and like the world when it makes sense and is logical.
• Can sometimes get stuck, unable to move past issues of fairness and injustice.
• Are amazing at bringing order, so we go to them when we need a mediator or help making good decisions.
Influencer
Their first question is always, “How can I move you to act?”
We love Influencers because at home, school, and in the world, they are great at persuading us to do things. They do this with their charm, wit, and knowledge—we love them for how they can make good things happen. Influencers are energized by momentum; they move us along to what is next. Influencers also…
• Engage people and get them to act with their power of persuasion.
• Can be impatient—they need decisions and momentum to keep things moving.
• Can be charming and direct, and we go to them because they understand us and help us move past roadblocks.
Pioneer
Their first question is always, “What’s new?”
We love Pioneers because at home, school and in the world, they love to explore—new places, people and the possibility of what is around the corner. More than curiosity, they are driven to try things they have not done before. Pioneers love being a resourceful person that pushes the boundaries—and that is important because we love how they lead us to what is undiscovered. Pioneers also…
• See the world as a place where good things happen.
• Are optimists that want to get going, even if they don’t know what’s around the corner.
• Can be too quick—we are not as comfortable with uncertainty; but they are curious and in motion, so we go to them for what’s new and what’s possible.
Provider
Their first question is always, “Is everyone okay?”
We love Providers because at home, school, and in the world, they are aware of how we feel and they are understanding, so we trust them. They are a safe corner of the world and we love them for it. Providers have our back—and that is important because sometimes it can seem like the world just doesn’t care. Providers also…
• Sense our feelings and give them a voice, so we trust and rely on them.
• Can sometimes feel left out—many of us don’t always think or act with the same dedication.
• Really do have our back; they untangle conflict and help us with messy situations.
Stimulator
Their first question is always, “How can I raise the energy?”
We love Stimulators because at home, school and in the world, they can just feel the energy (or the vibe) in a room, and they want to elevate it. They are a positive force and it shows in how they speak, their humor and actions. We love Stimulators for the energy they bring, and that is important because they shine a light and celebrate the best of us. Stimulators also…
• Are great at dealing with our emotions.
• Feel it’s their duty to keep our energy and interests up at peak levels.
• Can sometimes be too agreeable, and that might get them into trouble.
• Are up for a challenge; so we go to them when it’s “show time” and we need to make something successful.
Teacher
Their first question is always, “What can they learn from this?”
We love Teachers because at home, school, and in the world, they have an instinct for seeing what people need to grow and learn—and we love them for it. They don’t expect us to be perfect, and in fact they accept us just as we are. That is important because Teachers love to find out where we are, what we need to learn, and they help us get there. Teachers also…
• Are thrilled by people and their potential—learning, growing, doing, becoming.
• Can sometimes seem like “know it all’s”, always sharing information.
• Love that getting better is a journey, so we go to them to learn or try something new.
We hope that StandOut will help each person find direction by identifying their unique strengths profile. Together, we can grow stronger.
